Trustees and Fiscal Officer
Montville Township is governed by a three member Board of Trustees and one Fiscal Officer who handles the finances of the township. These officials serve a four-year term beginning on the first day of the following January and the Fiscal Officer begin on April 1st. Two trustees are elected in the year after the presidential election and the other trustee and the fiscal officer are elected two years before it. Trustee meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of each month at 7:30 pm at the township administration building.
Current Trustees are Ronald Bischof, Jeff Brandon, and Sally Albrecht. At the beginning of each calendar year, the trustees elect a new chair and vice-chair. Trustee Bischof is in charge of roads and parks, and is the backup trustee for cemeteries, utilities and the administration building. Trustee Brandon manages police, fire, LST– life support team, and economic development, and is the backup trustee for roads and zoning. Trustee Albrecht monitors zoning, utilities, cemeteries and the administration building, and is the backup trustee for police, LST, Fire, economic development and parks. The current Fiscal Officer is Mary Pawlowski. Fiscal Officer Pawlowski orchestrates all of the financial aspects of the township.
Board of Zoning Appeals
The Montville Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is one of the three branches of township government, and serves as the township’s judicial branch. They operate as a quasi-judicial body reviewing evidence supported facts (not opinions) regarding the granting of Variances and Conditional Use Permits to properties in the township.
The BZA is a five member board with two alternates. Current BZA members are Allen Biehl, Chair, Rebecca Molnar, Vice Chair, Fran Eden, Ted Lesiak, and Terry Hughes. The two alternates are Donna Watkins and Mike Rubino. BZA members serve a five year term and are appointed by the Trustees. BZA meetings are held on the first and third Monday evenings of each month at 7 pm at the township administration building.
The Zoning Commission
The Zoning Commission (ZC) is one of the three branches of township government, and serves as the legislative branch. They develop the zoning regulations and future zoning plans for the township.
The ZC is a five member board with two alternates. Current ZC members are Alan Piatak, Chair, John Vujevich, Vice Chair, Elayne Siegfried, Mary Pawlowski and David Wetzel. The two alternates are Ron Potter and Justin Carr. ZC members serve a five year term and are appointed by the Trustees. ZC meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month at 7 pm at the township administration building.
